A Tribute from company owner Larry Williams
Of the many DJs who have successfully made a name for themselves within our business, none have come near the achievements or risen to the heights of public acceptance like Dick Clark. To those of us who pride ourselves in achieving the utmost professionalism in our careers, there is simply no other disc jockey who more greatly personifies what a professional DJ is all about.
Dick Clark is, without a doubt, the greatest disc jockey of all time! Since the early fifties he has single-handedly sculpted the art of professional disc jockey entertainment. He has set a standard of appropriate and professional behavior that never waivers, tarnishes or goes 'out-of-style'. He has quite simply raised-the-bar so high that his legend could never be rivaled.
In a day and age where many DJs become the "flavor-of-the-month" for their shock value or inappropriate behavior . . . I hope that our clients will find it refreshing to know that we are committed to supplying DJ entertainment in the style and fashion of those before us, such as Dick Clark, who have paved the way and left an indelible mark on the professional DJ industry.
My Personal Story - In 1995, I was fortunate enough to become friends with members of Dick's immediate family. This friendship has blossomed over the years and continues to this day. I first met Dick and his charming wife Kari in 1996. It wasn't long before a treasured in-person and written correspondence developed.
Over the years, I have been involved in several family celebrations. I have even been asked to perform at two of them. In 2003, I performed the wedding and reception celebration for Dick's brother-in-law. My wife was invited to this celebration as well. It was a wonderful event that lasted well into the evening. For me personally, the day was highlighted by having Dick on the microphone (during the toasts) and even sharing a dance with his wife Kari. What an incredible honor to have the greatest disc jockey of all time on my dance floor!
June 12, 2010 was another incredible day in my life and career. I was invited to Malibu (where Dick and Kari live) for the wedding rehearsal, ceremony and reception of their niece. The photo below (to the left) is from this incredible 4 day extended weekend that found me handling the entertainment responsibilities for their extended family whom I am fortunate to have come to have known over the years as dear friends.
But the best news was yet to come. When I returned home on Tuesday June 15th, I received a phone call from Dick. He called to personally "thank" me for the handling of his niece's wedding and to inform me that he will be writing the "Foreward" for my new book Customer Service A to Z (a request I had asked of him). Needless to say, this is the greatest honor of my career. I couldn't be more proud.

The level of trust placed upon me by Dick Clark and his family is an honor above measure. I never lose sight of how extremely fortunate I am to have been welcomed so graciously by his family. Every hug, smile, compliment and greeting by any one of his many extended family members means everything in the world to me. I am probably the most grateful disc jockey on the planet! Not star-struck, but honored! Honored to be accepted, acknowledged and complimented by the greatest disc jockey of all time!!!
It all started with this in-person meeting and letter which followed soon thereafter. Thank you Dick Clark!
